Be Modest

Girls, it seems that most every music video, telivision show and movie depicts girls in clothes that are "sexy" which mostly means non-existant. I see shorter and shorter skirts, fishnet stockings, high heels, and low cut shirts. While the excuse I hear most commonly is that it makes them feel pretty. This is understandable when on every awards ceremony and movie you see beautiful women wearing clothes just like that, so of course you associate the clothes with beauty. But modesty is a beautiful thing as well, there is a certain mystery that perhaps inspires greater interest than revealing clothes. I go to school, and shorts and skirts are so short I see the entire length of girl's legs, shirts are so low cut I am suprised that stores make these clothes for the teen market. Have some self respect, going around half naked isn't what you want to be doing, you send the wrong message. GUYS KNOW YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL! we get it, you don't have to keep reminding us, so if you don't have to try to impress us, because you have always been beautiful and you always will be regardless of the clothes you wear, then you should think about yourself when dressing. Have the self respect and dignity to feel beautiful in whatever you wear, I mean if the only time you feel beautiful is when you are half naked, then that is a symbol of a lack of self confidence. You should have more faith in yourself, if you dress modestly, you are going against the grain, it shows a level of confidence that is much more attractive than the low self esteem that wearing revealing clothing shows. I am a senior in a public high school in southern california, so I have seen it all, and I would rather see girls dancing modestly. Honestly, I find it more attractive, so be different, don't follow the sheeplike crowd of pop culture, show some class, be modest.

Be a Man

The world tells us many things that are untrue, for example on every telivision show, movie, conversation you are constantly bombarded with sex, especially with people who are not married. How easy is it to have sex just whenever you want like that, she wants it, you want it, you have it and then what? Does that make you more of a man? no, you gave in to your most base and animal desires, big whoop. Now how much self control, and inner strength does it take to say no. In having sex with your girlfriend, you risk screwing up her life, think to yourself honestly, if she were to get pregnant, would you be able to support her, would you marrie her then? would you stay? what would happen to her when the answers to those questions is no? If you really care about her, would you risk putting her in a situation where she would be stripped of her independance, of her opportunities. Do you think she is going to be able to go to a university and get a fulfilling and meaningful job if she is supporting a child? If you really want to prove yourself a man, show your strength, show her some respect, maintain your own dignity and rise above the pressures and influences of this world. Does it feel good to say, "I did exactly what the world told me was cool." Are you that weak, that needy, that unoriginal that you can't come up with your own idea of right and wrong. It's not worth it, you discrace yourself, and you disgrace her. It doesn't matter if she is the initiator, if it is consentual, and she says she wants it, You have to step up, say no. If she doesn't like you because of that, then she isn't the kind of girl you should be with anyway.
By giving in, and having sex, you are showing a lack of self respect, you know you are better than that, you know she deserves better than that. True love does not depend on sex, if you really love someone, show them that love by caring for them, respecting them and treating them with the dignity that you know they deserve. I am a senior in high school, girls like me, I know the temptation and pressure is there, but it shows true strength to abstain from sex.
